MIT/WHOI Joint Program (JP) student Chris Murphy tests an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) designed and built by Chris and others in Hanu Singh's lab. JP students are an important part of the WHOI scientific community, contributing to and carrying out research of the highest caliber, both in the lab and at sea. In addition to his work creating the vehicle, Chris also contributed to data transmission and visualization that enabled the AUV Sentry to find and map the plume of hydrocarbons in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. This week, Chris and the other members of the JP class of 2012 will receive their degreesand the entire WHOI community joins in congratulating them and thanking them for their hard work.
