The Anything-But-a-Boat Race returns to the shores of Garbage Beach on Sunday, September 16 at noon. This special event is part of The Sea Around Us: Celebrating the Legacy of Rachel Carson, two days of fun and educational FREE events for the whole family brought to you by the Woods Hole Business Association in collaboration with the science community.
Image Of the Day caption:
One of this year's contestants falls off her unboat in WHOI's Anything-But-A-Boat Racea community event in Woods Hole, Mass., that attracted hundreds of spectators on Sept. 16. Race rules stipulate that unboats must be without boat shells, surf boards, or other commercially available boats or power sources. The contestants from local organizations and individuals come up with whimisical names for their unboats like Warrior Princess and Kitsch n Sink. This entry, called The Lady Station, was from Bear in Boots Gastropub on Main Street, Falmouth. The team stuck it out to make it back to shore after completing half the course.
