Caption from Oceanus magazine, Vol. 60, No. 1, Inside Front Cover:
To adapt to a rapidly shifting planet, humanity needs the best ocean research has to offer. At WHOI, scientists and engineers are developing new ocean monitoring tools, such as this low-cost acoustic sensor that's designed to track coastal water levels. Here, WHOI research associate Levi Gorrell (middle) along with WHOI associate scientists Sarah Das (left) and Chris Piecuch (right) install the new sensor as part of a project to expand public access to crit ical data. The new sensor is designed with affordability in mind and is sturdy enough to work reliably in the harshest ocean and weather conditions.
