R/V Atlantis Cruise AT15-60, Puntarenas, Costa Rica to Iquique, Chile.
Caption from Oceanus magazine, Vol. 48 No. 1, pg. 8:
The Pacific Ocean is a vast and lonely place to be in trouble. Fortunately for recent seafarers in distress, help arrived in the form of the WHOI research vessel Atlantis. In January 2010, Atlantis, under the command of Capt. A.D. Coburn, was en route to Iquique, Chile, when it encountered a disabled fishing vessel off the coast of Peru. A Peruvian long-liner and its seven-member crew had been adrift for four days. The crew aboard Atlantis extended a helping hand, providing the Peruvians with drinking water, food, and 150 gallons of diesel fuel.
